The Data Protection Act 1998 (the "Act") puts obligations on anyone (person or company) in the use of personal information and lays down eight principles for its use.
In order to respect your privacy, Baker Financial process your personal data in accordance with the data protection principles, namely:

- Personal data shall be obtained only for one or more specified and lawful purposes, and shall not be further processed in any manner incompatible with that purpose or those purposes.
- Personal data shall be adequate, relevant and not excessive in relation to the purpose or purposes for which they are processed.

- Personal data processed for any purpose or purposes shall not be kept for longer than is necessary for that purpose or those purposes.
- Personal data shall be processed in accordance with the rights of data subjects under this Act.
- Appropriate technical and organisational measures shall be taken against unauthorised or unlawful processing of personal data and against accidental loss or destruction of, or damage to, personal data.
- Personal data shall not be transferred to a country or territory outside the European Economic Area unless that country or territory ensures an adequate level of protection for the rights and freedoms of data subjects in relation to the processing of personal data.
How Baker Financial process your data
Our main use of your personal information is to assist you in your application for a mortgage or provide a specific service you require. We will not ask for any information other than to assist us in offering the best possible service and most appropriate product recommendation. During the course of an application it will be necessary for Baker Financial to pass on certain details (such as to the recommended mortgage provider / broker), in this instance we will only pass on the information required to aid in completion of the application or service. If you apply for life insurance or medical insurance we may require more sensitive information, such as details regarding your health or any history of family illness etc. All information gathered will be treated with the utmost confidence and will not be passed to other persons or companies other than where we are required to do so by law, UK regulations and in the normal processing of the service provided.
After completion of the service which we provide to you, your personal data may be archived and retained on our database and manual files. Such data will only be used in order to assist us to comply with our legal requirements or if your account is re-activated in relation to any subsequent application or request for a service.
If we are unable to deal with your enquiry directly we will pass your details onto a preferred broker or partner firm, Baker Financial may receive a referral fee for enquiries passed over.
